Field guide / Weather alerts
Read the boundary.
Know the urgency.
Warnings draw a bold white edge. Watches use a lighter dashed line. Select an alert below to see its shape and read what it means.
This illustration uses synthetic alert shapes over a recorded radar image. It does not show active alerts or forecast conditions.
Boundaries and colors reflect HookEcho’s current Field Atlas map style. Positions are invented for this guide; always open the official bulletin for the alert’s actual area, timing, and instructions.

The useful distinction
Watch the area. Read the warning.
A watch covers a broad area where a hazard is possible. A warning marks a more specific threat area. The map helps you find the boundary; the official bulletin tells you what to do.
